For the past 4 years, the Bridge Complex has organised a St Patricks day parade in Sixmilebridge. The parade has grown over the years, with more and more people looking to be involved.
On this, our fifth anniversary, there was a public meeting held in the community centre at teach na Chuirte(courthouse)at 8pm on Thursday 17th February. At the public meeting, it was agreed that This year’s St Patrick’s parade in Sixmilebridge will be held on Sunday March 13th.
The parade will follow the usual route, starting at mount Ievers estate on the Kilmurry road at 12.30 and finishing at The park beside the playground.
At a distance of only 1.6km, it is an easier walk for younger, older or physically challenged people than some of the longer parades in the county, thus allowing participation from people of a variety of communities.
The organisers of the parade would like to invite people, groups and businesses to join in the parade. Anyone wishing to take part should contact info@bridgecomplex.ie or 086 8229424 by the 5th or march to allow for planning of order etc.
Floats are welcome, as are performers of various arts. With advance notice, time will be scheduled in for performers to display their talents to the viewers.
